How did we get here? Several years ago a friend of mine, who coaches at a local university, asked me to help him get a player of his a  job at my current employer. I did, and it worked out well for the athlete and the company. Over the next several years this process repeated itself several times. Clearly, there was a pattern here of hiring student-athletes that made excellent employees. A seed had been planted. Around this time my duties within the company transitioned into a role in recruiting. In searching for new hires I immediately turned my focus to athletes. Again, I found success that was mutually beneficial for the student-athlete and the company. This time something was different. I began speaking with other hiring managers and connections on LinkedIn and noticed that they too saw the value in hiring student-athletes. At this point, the seed was growing into a dream: “Why not start a hiring agency that focused solely on placing student-athletes?” So my research began. Surely, someone had to have already capitalized on this niche market. Much to my surprise they had not! I knew this space in recruiting needed to be tapped into. As I began networking and exploring the idea of making this a business something occurred to me; not only do employers see the value in this service, athletes see it as well. Almost all former athletes that I speak with say the same thing “I wish I had that when I was in school.” That was it for me, I knew I had to take action. Not only will Five Star Hiring afford me the opportunity to deliver quality employees to companies but much more importantly it will allow me to positively impact an untold number of lives. The opportunity to provide a service to so many student-athletes that will forever positively affect their lives was too great to pass up.  I humbly and eagerly look forward to the opportunity to help businesses and student-athletes.
